A picture is worth a thousand words.  Social Mapping provides the tools to gather data and present it visually using a variety of maps that provide clear pictures of what the data is telling us.

Data gathered and mapped through a social mapping process provides a picture of where your organization or network is and the next steps to moving forward.

Funded by Trillium we worked with our partners from the Social Planning Network of Ontario (www.spno.ca ) and conducted an extensive project in Northern communities supporting the development of social planning capacity.  In the Cochrane District the project launched a new Social Planning Council www.cdspc.org.  Network analysis and social mapping were key tools used in getting this work off the ground.

“ The overall engagement process used by the project team was successful in bringing players around the table.  The network mapping was very useful in helping us see where we had connections and where we had to reach out to bring others in.  The Social Planning Council was very effective in supporting us as we developed and launched the Cochrane and District Social Planning Council.”
